Picture sharing without breaking the rules?

I made a thread on Getdare linking to some nude selfies I took, and have just been warned by the staff that linking to nudity is breaking the rules.

Would is be ok to link to my kinktalk profile, and have the nudity link on kinktalk there? I don't want to break any rules in future.

EDIT: we have to do everything we can to ensure getDare is not passively distributing photos of or to minors and we can’t do an age verification to join (short answer).

Out of interest then, considering Kink Talk is basically the same site, and linked directly from here, and thus known as the "Go here for nudes" part of GetDare... how does that work as no age verification is needed there.

Not trying to cause issues, just legitimately interested in that.

People will always forget the picture rules here because (and I say this out of love, not to be disrespectful) they are not remotely based in common sense.

The ads on the front page of getdare.com are pornographic. If I linked to where the ads link, I would be breaking the rules. I understand not wanting to have pictures directly on getdare, but between the link to kink talk and the ads, you already allow linking to nudity, so why not let users do it?

Also, the fact that apparently as long as it is a cartoon, it is ok exception further confuses the rule. These aren't even links, they are often avatars and far more explicit than an image with a nipple in it.

Finally, I don't understand the distinction between images and text. This is absolutely an adult site. The discussions and threads here are as explicit as can be. If a minor is here, they are already "corrupted" so-to-speak, so I don't understand the fear that one will stumble in here and need to be protected from seeing a boob.

Again, I know the mod team puts a lot of hard work into this community and I truly appreciate that, so I hope this criticism reads as constructive and not personal. <3 you all.

I do feel that, for the most part it was a thing that was there for when the site was for like, ages 14+, but the rules were never really updated when we changed to 18+, and it's become more of a "well, those are the rules, so follow them" rather than any consideration as to "why" they are the rules.

It's not hard to conceal a nipple or two lol, for example some of the pictures ion my gallery have little bits concealed. A solution many use is to say to PM them for links.
To be honest though sometimes things being a bit concealed can be as interesting and arousing as seeing someone in their full naked glory lol.
I can see why we wouldnt want the GD site to post full nudes everywhere as well it would just because a gallery for pornographic images and yeah rather change the feel of the website in my mind.

i agree with all you said 100%! i’ve got a whole bunch of provactive photos in my albums thats ive been told were more exciting bc im showing everything but the things that werent allowed - ive even created gifs that bare all but the forbidden i also really enjoy scrolling the forums without my eyes being assaulted with things i really dont want to see. sending photos via pm or kik rather than posting them helps to prevent your photos being used by just anyone as well

People don't seem to pay it much heed, but KiK explicitly forbids uploading, posting, sending, commenting on (!) or storing content that is vulgar, obscene or offensive, or that contains pornography or nudity...

So KiK's not the answer either...

And what about the picture puzzles? I loved them...

This goes to my whole point of I don't get the huge distinction between text and pictures, because gD is full of smut in text form. I think part of the reason kinktalk is in its current state is that its only purpose is to post pictures that aren't allowed on getdare. There's no topic that I think, "oh, this is too lewd to talk about on gD, better switch to kinktalk" because it seems like anything goes here as long as it is text. And I am all for limiting to links here so that people have to opt in to viewing images instead of it just being there, but I truly don't understand any of the arguments against them. I'm sorta with pranadevil in that they seem leftover from a different state of this website and they just continue because that's the way it has been.

unfortunately, you wouldnt be able to ‘opt in’ to view photos as avatars/profile photos would also be filled with nudity. i understand that it feels like it was never updated, but the person who created the site has just made that remark about a year ago . i also think text versus photos are wildly different - at least to me. not to mention that your posts become uneditable after several days so the amount of people who would become upset that they posted nude photos they cant delete once they have a clear head or takes longer than they expected to remove would create a larger workload for the staff.

The whole reason I joined and have participated in getDare all of these years is because there are no pictures, or links to pictures.

Honestly, there are 10 million places you can go and look at and/or post pictures, I know because I tried them all and didn't like it.

I like it here, I like not having to see other people's junk all of the time.

I see it being different than like kinktalk etc. because the website name has a child's theme, so it is much more likely to attract children. I like children, and I think they are cool and all, but lots and lots and lots and lots of them try to join this site, and I don't want to be complicit in encouraging child pornography.

There is a drastic difference between written smut and picture smut under the law, and also to my eyes.
