The getDare forums will go down tomorrow (01/11/07) for a short period of time while upgrades are made to our server. The downtime should not be longer than 20 minutes.

Also, our new subscription system is up and working. Many thanks to our first early adopters. You can learn more about getDare subscriptions in your UserCP. As the year goes on more special benefits will be added to reward those that help us pay the bandwidth bills. A years subscription is only $2.50 a month when you pay in advance.

How much bandwidth does the site use? Probably no more than 100GB a month... I can host this entire site if you just want to maybe give me a small percentage of your google revenue...

We can give everybody the "premium" features on the forum at no cost to them if we partner up and do this... all you would have to pay for is the $10 domain each year... I've got the hosting covered... even if the google revenue is only $10, you can keep the $10 and pay for the domain, I will keep hosting...

I run this site for fun. The cost of running the site is surprisingly high but the front page pays for it currently. We run on a way better setup than we really need. Extra money goes towards things like the forums software. I appreciate your offer but must decline.

The subscriptions are more of an experiment I am running here. It's more of a way for me to test new features and let people donate indirectly towards their development.
