This is a text based site. Anyone above 13 can talk about anything they want in text. It's not "against the law."

If someone is soliciting you for images or just generally pestering you, you just report it to a mod and/or block them. Why is that hard? If you don't want to read the messages because you're irritated then just delete them without reading them and realize it's part of the territory.

I personally think the complaints that were made against the site were making a big deal out of nothing and this thread is making a big deal out of nothing, but that's just me.

It is "mature" content by international law it is illegal for anyone who is not 18 years of age to view it. Simple as that, it is not that someone complained so depp choose this method to fix it. He had to BY LAW. If he did not stop it, it would be endangering a minor. Like lets say I leave porn playing 24/7 on my laptop in a high school do you think that is acceptable?

I would like to suggest two straight forward enhancements to the site that would not limit the freedom that current exists on here:

1. Make displaying of the age compulsory. I know that people can rort this but at least there has to be a deliberate act to do so.

2. Create a landing page that you have to click through. This would enable messages such as "The rules of this site are..." to be displayed and acknowledged.

Try it out. Be sun smart- be internet savvy. If the creepy dudes are a problem, report them, block them and do not talk to them again!

I very much agree with the first and the second one wouldn't be a terrible idea, but I'm not sure how that would fit in with the front page. It has that thing that gives out TorD ideas. Would that happen when you went to look at the forum section? or before you look at the idea giver?

I'm not an IT person but I would envisage that when you go to www.getdare.com you hit a page that asks you if you want to proceed further and has the "rules" text. By clicking through you move to the existing screen and also agree to adhere to the rules.

This is a bit simplistic I know but I'm sure some clever person could make this work.

Then there are people at me that never view the homepage, I load directly to the forums. If I am typing the address I just add the /bbs to the end. So it would be better positioned on the forum index. This being said it would get redundant popping up everytime, but depp could code it with a little use from cookies to have it only show up every once in a while.

I disagree with most people that have posted.

I DON'T think that people should be forced to display their age.

HOWEVER I think some of jessie's idea's would be very helpful (eg) colour coded for users - Under / Over 18)

This would give anyone NO EXCUSES for asking S/M to underage users provided the rule is clearly stated.

After all do you really need to know that a user is (example) 37 and not 24. You can easily ask when talking if it's important to find out. Would you think differently about someone if you knew their age.


ALTERNATIVE SUGGESTION
(may be a large thing to implement, if possible)

A traffic light system for people wanting S/M (bubble)

Green = Available / looking

Amber = Already taken / not interested

Red = Underage / Not interested

Black = Not selected.


You would then be able to see (in chat / of profile / of posts) if a user is worth your time targeting.

Also would be useful to find users for advice if needed (Amber)

Some people must get frequently asked for S/M that are not interested, and again people must that are already taken / in a relationship. At the same time this may help the people that are looking (green) as people won't be afraid to ask fearing that they would get there head bitten of

(All under 18 = automatically marked as RED) - Also would be required to fill in when making new users profiles and information about it

Just a different suggestion, based around the original question asked, however understand may not be an easy thing to be implemented.

Rachie I really like your idea. When I posted for ages to be displayed, it wasnt so Id know the exact age but just a way to know if they were over 18. This is definitely a better suggestion so people dont have to post their age but everyone still knows whether they are over 18 or not.

There is no porn here. o.O And do you have some kind of insider knowledge of gD and what happened that other people don't have? Because I am just going off of what Depp told us. And I believe him over you.

A creative solution that achieves the same thing as displaying the age (identifying underage people) without forcing everyone to display the age - I like it.

I still think a landing page would be a good idea and easily achieved
