Yeah but I don't always want to be constantly on the look out for hiccups 24/7.

Scaring them out of me seems to always work the best for me.

Deep breathing for 30-40 seconds usually works for me.

For me it's usually just calming down and just 'forget' about them.

If it's someone else when they tell me I have hiccups a sure fire 'cure' I always use is to immediately throw a random question at them

Them: "I have hiccups"
Me: "Why?"
*hiccups gone*

Usually anything that interrupts that brain wave of 'normalcy' does the trick
