Default Fingernail

Hello everyone,

Recently, I closed my finger in a folding-table while trying to fold it back up. It closed right on my nail and now underneath is black, and has been this way for a few days. Will this go away? Is it just a bruise? Or do you think I should get it checked out? This never happened to me before, and I have closed my finger in many doors!

Thanks in advance!

Well I dunno about finger nails, but I've dropped all sorts of things on my toes and it has gone black underneath, but it grows out. The "bit of black" slowly works its way up your toe as your nails grow, and eventually works its way out.

You should be fine

You probably popped a blood vessel or something. I did that under my baby toe. It takes some time but it does heal (mine took about a month).

If it starts to swell up really badly, then see a doctor but other than that, you should be okay.

I am sorry but Stix is right, a transplant will be needed.

Either it will go away on it's own or there's also a small chance that the nail could fall off. Neither requires medical attention, I don't believe.

I'm not a doctor, but my sister seems to lose/injure fingernails all the time. o.o
