A idea for getdare!

So i have seen that people have accounts that they have not been on for like a year or so and I thank that if somebody has not been on for a certain period time that there user should be banned or just took off this site. I mean why would we need all these people if they don't get on at all? So please tell me if this is possible or not!

maybe if they agreed to it when signing up, but I know I'd be pretty pissed if I came back from volunteering in another country or something only to find that I was banned from a website I was quite fond of.

Please explain the reason for this? (Why ban them)

Could undestand if instead of banned put a coloured symbol near avatar,
eg)

green (Active in the last week)

Yellow (Active in last 2 months)

Red (Active in last year)

Black (Over a year)

And if came back, symbol just changed accordingly.

However the amount of effort required would probably not be worth it, and hard to install -- So leave as it is

Well It would be a long time for you to get kicked off like you would not be gone that long mot likely and it would be like you did not post much when you did get on it and if like you really did not get on in the first place. But this is just a thought.

While, in many cases, if the person has been gone for a long while they probably aren't coming back, there is still the chance that someone could. Like MR.Not To Nerdy said, what if they come back?

Plus, what is it hurting if they are still around? The amount of work it would take to ban that many people would be kind of out of the question.

I was gone for over, or around, a year because my laptop was broke, but i came back, and have been on every day since. I would be really mad if i was blocked from this site because i hadnt been on

I pretty much agree with everyone else, they're not hurting everyone being where they are, it's not like their usernames would get freed if they got banned.

I've seen people return to the site after over a year or more. The accounts being there aren't causing anyone any problems but I know I'd be pissed if someone deleted mine just because I hadn't been on. I've seen this idea brought up before and I'm as strongly against it now as I was then.

The color coating idea is a great idea, however slightly more difficult to do if I remember correctly. The software should have a count down that will move the users to a hidden user group. Not sure how it will work on a site this large but a thought.

I think Rachie has a good idea there but as she said herself, depending on how much effort would actually have to go into it it might not be worth it for the site. If I knew how to do it myself I would but I don't do that stuff and I wouldn't want to promise jobs for other people. Also, we do actually have when the user last logged on it might not be colour coded but it's good enough.

This. Just check "Last Activity" on a profile, or encourage people to mention reasons for being away. People do this in blogs a lot.

I like Rachies idea because lets say im reading a story and theres a red symbol next to that name, I know that I shouldn't expect any more chapters or something like that. Just a thought.
