Default My Thoughts of getDare.

Dearest getDare, I found no other appropriate place to discuss this, and I have several thoughts to get out of my system, if you will.

For those of you that know me, which is very few to none, let provide with a great bit of detail: I am a very philosophical character.

What has getDare become? What did it start out as? What is the combination of these two? How have we developed into what we are now?

GetDare, as the title aptly says, started out simple: a truth or dare forums (to my knowledge). What it became was something many forums and communities can only strive to become.

It started out as a forums, for stories, for dares, and for truths. Now, it's surely escalated since it's original form. Sure, the sexual aspect of it has become a main theme in the site, but that's certainly not at all what it is.

Let's start with the "stories" section. In my opinion, this is one of the "premier" aspects of the site, besides the Truth and Dare section. Sure, the stories didn't start out extremely sexual, albeit that's what it became, but something happened that is very unusual amongst many forums and communities.

First in this aspect is what I call... the "Fantasy" Syndrome. It's not a disease at all, it's just something I've noticed and decided to name it. Now, we all know that 99% of the stories here didn't happen. There may be a few in which did, but those stories are usual not as full of sexual content as the rest. The rest are aptly named "Fantasies" because they're something we'd like to happen. I once read something about "why are so many stories containing underage persons and why are they not considered child pornography?" The answer to this would be that in fact, I would say nearly 50% of people on this site that attribute themselves as 18 years old, or 19, etc., aren't that age. Now, that number is now to 100% as you can no longer join without being over 18.

The reasons these stories are "underage," if you will, is because the writers themselves are underage. Why would a 15 year old be writing about a story with sexual content about older women? They wouldn't, most of the time. This is because they are sexually attracted to women of their own age. Although they might find a model of 21-25 attractive, they wouldn't want to write a story about them. Why? Because that's what their story unique: they are literally writing out their "wet dreams," if you will. They are able to break through not necessarily their parents wishes and beliefs, but they are able create something... Taboo; something they want to happen, but never will, or most likely won't.

This leads to our second group of these underage stories: the actual 18-20 age on this site, like myself. Whenever I am composing a story... and it contains younger people, it is because I am both nostalgic about my youth, and am "fantasizing" about my youth, and that I am both able to communicate this without feeling creepy. Now, when the age reaches over 21 about this, I am stopping, because those days, if you will, will be over. I'll find other attractions. But currently, I am still nostalgic about my teen years, and create stories about what I wish they could've been.

Lastly, there is the pedophilic version of these people, who either claim they are that age, or are much older, such as in their early thirties, past the point of that "line" that must be crossed when it's acceptable to have those kinds of thoughts about people of that age. I'm nearing that age, and beginning to "grow up," if you understand me.

In a separate category, I would put the "Anonymous" people into. The teenagers that are writing about mainly their homosexual secrets. There are many of these "anonymous" people on this site. They are "closeted," if you will, and getDare, which this is a main reason why getDare is different, is a "portal" to a community in which they are accepted, and they can live out their secret desires and wishes, without telling who they really are and what they are really like. It's an interesting group I think. Everyday, at the peak of the story section, you would see two or three new stories about 14-18 year old teenagers writing about their secret fantasies of truth or dare with their friends at a sleep over. I can't count how many times I've seen that scenario repeated over, and over, and over again. Is it bad? No, not necessarily, but... I think it's for them, either a way of "confirming" their thoughts about their homosexuality, or they realize that they're not really what they fantasize about. Hell, my first stories started out like that, and I'm sad to admit it. I'm one of the few that "got through" that stage, where I was questioning who I was. Now, I'm positive about who I am and what I'm going to become.

Lastly, I'd like to discuss the community as a whole. We have a wide variety of people in this community. I'd say ages 12-35 would be a good estimate. It's something where (not that this is a good thing) that everybody can communicate on the same level, nobody being better than the other person, because in a way, many of us have a secret to hide, and we get to "reveal" that secret to everyone, without telling who you are; a way of "getting it off your chest," if you will.

This community has become tightly knit through both anonymity and personalization. You can become who you want on this site, and in some cases, actually be yourself, and not the person you appear to be to your friends and family.

Those are my thoughts for this afternoon. I commend this community on becoming something unique on the internet. It's not something you see in which a group of people can come to discuss certain matters, and yet be... different about it. I don't know how to describe it. It's very unique!

Discuss your opinions on this! I'd like to see your view of getDare as well!

Sincerely,

Chubbsman.
