Part One: Why I Can Never Look My Mum In The Eye
It was a sunny day, I knew that by the light shining through the gap in the curtains. It wasn't that that woke me up. It was my mum. She was screaming up to me that someone was on the phone for me. Being the care-free person that I was, I slept naked the night before. Having just woken up and not got my memory bad quite at that moment, I got out of bed and opened the door. Bad: I was naked. Horrible: My mum was standing right in front of the door. Worse: I had just woken up, so I was 'standing to attention' so to speak. She quickly handed me the phone and ran off. I slammed the door and spoke into the phone. "Hello?" "Alright mate?! It's Dave. Wanna come down to the beach? It'll be me, Josh, Carl and you" "Urm..What time?" "Hour." "Ok." Cause I had just woken up I wasn't up for much conversation. I got dressed, went downstairs avoiding my mum's eye contact and walked to the beach. When I got there, the other three were there. Apparently, I was late, but after the argument about that had settled down, I asked what we were going to do. "Truth or Dare", Dave replied. I was a bit unsure, but I had nothing better to do and I needed to avoid my mum for as long as possible, so I agreed. "You can go first", Dave commanded at me, "Truth or dare?" I couldn't be bothered with a truth. So I stupidly replied, "Dare." The other guys laughed, they had this all planned. "You see that group of families over there? Walk over to them. Lie next to them...." I was feeling quite cocky, because it seemed like a tame dare, it was only the first round after all. It won't be a horrible dare, I thought. "...And strip completely naked..." Oh. Maybe it would be horrible. "...And lie there for five minutes..." There possibly can't be more, can there? "...Then go for a swim in the sea..." I guess there can. "..but you can only get to the sea by walking through that crowd of pensioners over there.." I started wondering whether they could read my thoughts. "...Then have a shower over there" He pointed to some showers, which were out in the open. Judging by his facial expressions, I knew he was finished. I hope. "Start then." Even though I was a 'care-free' person, I was unsure whether I would be able to strip on a beach. Full of people. And from the looks of it, no-one else was naked. I felt like asking them why the first dare had been so tough, but that'd only delay it. As I walked over to the families, I knew something was going to go wrong. Little did I know that something was going to go wrong. And it'd happen when I was most vunerable. |
