A man was found dead in his study. He was slumped over his desk and a gun was in his hand. There was a cassette recorder on his desk. When the police entered the room and pressed the play button on the tape recorder they heard: “I can’t go on. I have nothing to live for.” Then there was the sound of a gunshot.

Is it a suicide or murder?

Hint: no the boat was not on Saturn's moon Titan, where the lakes are made of liquid methane.

A body is lying outside a 10 story building, with a suicide note lying nearby. The police captain asks a detective to determine which floor the man jumped from. The detective climbs up to the 10th floor, goes up to the window facing the side the body is lying, opens it and tosses a coin. He then goes down to each floor and repeats the process.

After finishing all floors he goes up to the captain and informs him that it was a murder. How did he deduce that?
