Breading or genetics has nothing to do with bestiality at all.
A lot of viruses can't spread between species, but some CAN. And transspecies mutation effects can occur in the virus. Bacteria are yet another one of the problems. And of course the obvious one that you mention, sexually transmitted disease.

Yes, generally speaking you are correct in regard to STD's simply because the infections are usually species-specific. STD that can pass between animal and human sex usually doesn’t concern most situations.
