Religious views?
Yeah, it's a touchy subject for some people, but I'm curious as to what the getDare community believes in! So what do you believe in? If you want to, tell us why!

Yes, I'm a very religous person, but this is not the place to discuss this type of matter. I really don't thank this is a good idea as thread.

If, on this site, we can go into all the sexual things that we do, things that many people in society consider "crossing the line," then I think we can handle a religious conversation. It's not saying who is wrong or right, it is just a simple question.

This post is fine as long as it is just saying our personal religious views. What is not okay is someone bashing someone else for their religious views. If that occurs, this thread could be trashed and the user insulting could receive an infraction.
As for myself, I am Christian. I have talked about my own personal views on my blog many times. If you really want to know more, search there.

Heathen, the Ancestral religion of Northern Europe. Yes, the same Gods and Goddesses as the vikings believed in and most of Northern Europe for centuries before them as well.

Manbearpig- i didn't think it would be a problem, and I hope people are mature enough not to bash other peoples beliefs, but to just share their own!

I myself am an atheist. A "woman of science," you could say. I was brought up atheist, though my parents did teach us about the different religions and what they entailed.

Many questions on here go way too personal in my opinion, and people have no problem with it, so what is wrong with a question about religion?

Daremaster- thank you for being mature and trying to look from other points of views, most people won't even do that, but nevertheless, I didn't tell mine. I'm an atheist.

It's just I was worried about what Manbearbig said, about the bashing on religon. But he said they will control it and I really don't thank people would be like that although I have ran in to people on this site that have done it. :/

I was born and raised Catholic/ Christian, went to church as a kid, went to a Catholic primary school, secondary school and college. And I do believe in God etc, Im just not sure I agree with everything the church says about God, I never really had a problem with my faith until I started becoming involved with the lifestyle and since then, while I remain religious I often have a hard time balancing the two.
But just to emphasise what MBP has said previously, Ive never seen a thread of this sort that has not descended into arguments so I am going to keep a close eye on it. Please keep it civilised.

I'm an atheist-I can understand why people might believe in a higher power, and I don't think that it will ever be possible to prove the existence or non-existence of such (But who knows) so I kind of think the whole debate about that is a bit pointless.
The way I think about it, even if a higher power did exist, it doesn't follow that I should have to follow their ideological dogma if I don't personally think it's a good idea. The entire idea of a 'god' type figure creating free will, and then insisting everyone follow a set of (to a greater or lesser extent) strict rules whilst alive, for benefit after you die- seems contradictory. Of course, there may not be such a thing as free will (separate but connected topic), but if that were the case then the higher power would be controlling me not to believe in it- which doesn't make sense either... Ultimately, I think things would be a lot better for a lot of people if the people so focused on life after death thought a bit more about how they treat people whilst they are alive, and that if they are entitled to live their own lives in the way they choose, people who think differently should also be allowed to. I don't like extremists of any sort, including atheist fundamentalism that all religion/ faith is evil and wrong. My two cents...
