The Trap [fiction]

The trap had sprung, though neither the trapped nor the trapper had been aware of its existence. Indeed, it was hard to tell which was in the trap. He, hopelessly snared in her charm, beauty, in her honesty. She, tangled in an excitement she hadn't known existed before.

Neither could easily escape the bond; neither was entirely sure that escape was the goal. But neither was ready to submit. To allow the other to come closer. Both fought against the trap, becoming more tangled in the process.

Each could simply release the other and walk away. Neither seemed to be able. The trap filled a need in both: They had both found a prize; they had both become the prize of the other. Each offered to the other, each accepted. Yet neither was willing to take the final step: To release the other or to claim the prize.

But the trap had sprung, and now both struggled, trying at times to ignore the trap, to fight against it, to submit to it, to free their prey, to claim them. Trying to justify, to condemn.

What is hope, when you're unsure of what you hope for? Is it a trap, when you might wish to be caught? Can the hunted be caught, when the hunter was unaware of the hunt?

No matter the outcome, both lives were touched. Only time can solve the riddle of the trap they've sprung.

WOW! There are people here who can write metaphorically!?! I must say, I am super impressed. Keep it up! Please. There are so many stories here I can't bare to read cause the writting sucks. So keep writting! Or you'll make me cry...

But seriously, style wise, in depth, this is the best I've seen here so far. And you've only written, like, a page.
