Any good alternative for Kik? (as that platform will shut down soon)

What are good alternatives for Kik?

More specifically, I like to keep my phone-number and regular contacts separate from the messenger-app or the messenger-app account.

I've tried:

Viber, wants my phone number and apparently it wants to access my regular contacts to be able to chat with someone.
Telegram, wants my phone number and someone from my regular life already noticed I installed that app, meaning I am not very keen on giving it my adult-inspired nickname.

Anybody any suggestion?

Discord is a good option. You can use on phone or pc, you can also join the unofficial getdare discord server! Link is in my signature.

kik has been sold and is no longer closing.

Discord is generally a better messenger either way, though as previously said a few days back it was bought out, more news is coming in the near future.
Besides, today was meant to be the closing down day.

I do not use Kik but also learned it is not shutting down.

Telegram is one even though, as everyone stated, kik aint closing.

And again, as everyone stated, discord is just a better messenger, it has everything you need.

Kik is not closing but it is unusable with annoying ads. The alternative is still needed. I want to remove kik from my phone
