Cherry Blossoms

It says I can post anything in the lounge - so I need some totally not related to GD help.

I have cherry blossom seeds, and they are old now.. I don't know how to grow them but I really want to as does my friend. I think I have a greater chance of success since I live in the Northern Hemisphere and have snow and a possibility for the Japanese plants to grow... She on the other hand lives on the equator with no snow, and a pretty stable climate year round.

How can we both get to grow our cherry blossoms?
