New ideas....
So, as a result of what happened today, I suggest that Depp enacts new rules. Of course this is all up to Depp since he alone is in charge, but I think we should get input from everyone to better the site.
Depp, I think we NEED a mod forum, desperately. Also rules I am suggesting: 1. Asking to be a mod will result in a 2 day probation. 2. Over-publicizing infamatory statements will result in a warning. 3. Putting a basically same thread in EVERY forum will result in a weeks worth of probation. 4. You must have 175+ posts to become a mod. 5. A mod may be recommened by a staff member in the staff forum. 6. A member cannot recive a warning and ban/probation for the same thing on the same day. What do you guys think.

Most of them seem decent, but a few i don't agree with:
3. Putting a basically same thread in EVERY forum will result in a weeks worth of probation. To me, this is pretty much blatent spamming and i see no reason why this wouldn't be banworthy. 4. You must have 175+ posts to become a mod. i disagree only because it sorta encourages posting one-liners such as "good dare" and such only to get mod eligibility. To me a mod should be a poster of good and interesting things - an attribute which isn't really related to post count. (This is where a reputation system would come in quite handy) Anyway, there's my thoughts. -Daredude |

I agree with Daredude, I don't like the post idea. He is right about people just writting those one liners. Like if someone writes like Seven 2 Page Post. Then that should certainly count for more then other people.

well i know some people asked to be a mod like smile guy. I didn't find that post until he was a mod. But i agree that there needs to be a mod forum where only mods can post. Also there should be a subject at the top for aplication to be a mod and there would be new mods picked every month or something like that.

2. I think that, depending on the nature of the statements, more than a warning might be necessary. 3. I think the probation sentence should be slightly stronger for this one, perhaps even banning the offender. 4. I think this should be qualified to say that a person should have x number of QUALITY posts (ie posts that are more than "good dare"). 5. Definitely a good idea. 6. Also a good idea. And as for the Mod Only section, I believe that such a section is a necessary part of any message board because it allows the staff to discuss policy as a group without having to schedule some sort of chat.

I think we NEED a mod forum, desperately.
Full-heartedly agree with this one. I really felt like I need to communicate with other mods about this whole experience we've been having recently. And, of course, these sorts of things will always happen again. That's the nature of life. Asking to be a mod will result in a 2 day probation. Well, err, technically, I asked to be a mod (though, of course, in completely different circumstances). I'm a bit against an immediate probation so perhaps an informal warning first that we can then communicate about in the mod's forum. Over-publicizing infamatory statements will result in a warning. I think these are issues that would need to be discussed individually in a mod's forum. Putting a basically same thread in EVERY forum will result in a weeks worth of probation. Again, individual cases... as these events are quite unusual. Unless, of course, it's blatant spamming, in which the usual rules apply. You must have 175+ posts to become a mod. Maybe. Though of course, the quality of the posts should also come into play and there should be individual cases. A mod may be recommended by a staff member in the staff forum. Yes. Of course. A member cannot recive a warning and ban/probation for the same thing on the same day. Not for the same thing. But certainly for different things. So, my overall point is that we need a staff forum so as to discuss issues with one another as they arise. |

Well hopefully in a mod forum, we can discuss candidates and if a candidate has 176 crap posts he won't get the mod job. That seems to be the main problem.

Yes! Yes! Yes! A mod's forum... so, who's going to post there first? Oh, and are err non-mods able to enter at all but just not post? Can they view the last user posted? Those sort of questions.

1. Asking to be a mod will result in a 2 day probation.
dont agree, just because of 1 person we dont have scary other people off, i think that you can ask it in a proper way, not by making a thread but sending a pm instead to the mods/ admin etc 2. Over-publicizing infamatory statements will result in a warning. i think that it is very simple, two post of the same => warning same with threads, if somebody posts the same thing twice, on purpose (so not making a mistake etc) 4. You must have 175+ posts to become a mod. quality above quantity, Not how much but how good, ok you need posts but you also need time active on the time, myself eg i am not a very much post member, but i am online at the site everyday since aug 2006 (btw i am NOT applying to be a mod now) but i think that you only can be a mod when you know this site for a time and view it everyday for at least a few months. this is because there are atm people who are posting more then 100posts in their first month, if one of them would be a mod now, after just a month then that wouldnt be good for getdare.com because they are just members who are very active ATM but what will happen in the future? we need people who are VERY often active and not just for now but for all times... 5. A mod may be recommened by a staff member in the staff forum. I think that that is a good idea, but i also hope that other, not staff, members can recomend other members too. as said earlyer not in a thread or post but in a PM, maybe we have to start a pm thing for this kind of suggestions. 6. A member cannot recive a warning and ban/probation for the same thing on the same day. dont agree. What if I am spamming, and i receive a warning (totally earned) but i dont stop but that i continue the same day. The staff has to have the possibility to ban/probate me. What i would like to see is a staff person who would solve problems and has the last word in bans etc. so that not every staff member gets involved. I hope that getdare.com/bbs wont change to much because of one person. |

i dont think he ment it like that. although depp=noob=lol is not as much as a poster as u r, he can still be a great quality poster. you can also mustangman be a very active poster and u have quality posts
i would suggest that u have to be around here for at least x amount of months (somewhere between 3-6 so u would first see how stuff happens on this site) before u can become a mod. tessdog wasnt around here that long and wanted to become mod (for other reasons of course but still). that is just my suggestion. what do other people think...
