when you say rest do you mean take the toy out or?
and to answer the first question i am able to get to the point i am sitting against the knot and the middle of the shaft is 8 cm or 3 inches in diameter.
However the knot is 11 cm or 4 inches in diameter and that's definitely not gonna get in at the moment no matter how hard i try

Sure, resting can mean taking the toy out. The important part is holding the moderate stretch for 4 minutes, and gradually easing up to deeper stretches each round.
