I don't find it horribly painful, but it is intense. It sort of burns but also tingles, and it can make my whole body tremble. I am a baby when it comes to pain, so I think it does hurt, but it also gets me wet. Most kinds of pain don't do that for me. For the first time you use it, a pea size dab should be suitable, and if it becomes too much for you then clean it off, but I'd encourage you to try to keep it on for a while. Also, when you clean it, you may want to be careful not to just rub it around more. Try to scoop it off rather that wipe it, unless you're enjoying it and don't mind rubbing it in a bit more.

I know I haven't got a clit but if you like pain it's worth trying. A small amount at first (pea-sized is good advice) and it'll probably start hurting after 5-10 seconds. The initial pain can be agony and lasts 10 or so minutes before I tend to get more (but not entirely obviously) used to it (on cock or asshole granted). It also depends on the toothpaste though, there's a few I've used that sting a lot but another that's nearly unbearable.

Last advice run a bath or at least get a shower/hot water ready so you can get it off if you find it too much but I'd say try to work past that initial "Holy moly" stage if you can. Hope you enjoy the agony!

It's not too bad, if you apply it once.
I once had a punishment where I had to edge once then apply a small amount and couldn't wipe it off for 30 minutes. I had to do this every hour for 6 hours. It was torture but I really deserved it.
