This may be totally obvious but should there be a time where a man gets an erection in an erotica store, is that commonplace or frowned on? I'm really curious about this.

I think it doesn't matter as long as you don't disturb other shoppers about it. Everyone is there for themselves, not to know you. The employees are there to assist you, not to help your urges. If you're turned on, good for you. If not, same.
