Do some google and youtube searches if you haven't heard of it, as well as "Illuminati michael jackson" on both youtube and google

You don't have to believe it, but take a minute to think of the possibility. Be open minded.

Is there an all-powerful one-world-order style Illuminati as described in conspiracies and fiction? No.
Are there groups of people working in secret to further their ends? Without a doubt.

I don't believe that the historical Illuminati exists today (or that they were ever really an all-powerful type group) but I know for a fact there are groups of people working in secret on an international level to do interesting things.

I believe there is a form of a modern day Illuminati working at an international level. It is obvious that there are groups our there manipulating and influencing the worlds financial and political agendas.

I definetly think there is. And these people work in symbols. They label products with triangles. This can be in the form of stars (Texaco), multiple triangles (Chevron), and objects shaped like triangles like mountains or pyramids. A's is also in the shape of a triangle (Albertonson's).
Also, a large majority of stars, celebs, politicians, athletes, have made a deal with the devil. If you want to become rich, you sell your soul for riches with this secret group. They are planning to kill off most of the population, as it would be easier that way to "herd the sheep". Scary stuff, but its true.

Some people want to see these things too badly, and they start seeing things that aren't there, you know? ^_^

Are there conspiracies? Yes. Nixon's Watergate thingamajig was one, for example.

But they are incredibly dificult things to keep under wraps. The only good way to keep a secret is for no one to know about it. So no, I don't believe in any of the shadow-government/illuminati/nwo stuff that gets thrown around.

Why do people believe in them? I'm not sure, but it's definitely related to the human tendency to see patterns and agents where there is none. Have you ever looked at random blobs of ink, clouds or complicated dotty surfaces and seen faces and familiar shapes? Odds are that you have. That's our pattern-finding brain at work. Similarly, we find patterns in what are really random sets of events. We also tend to unconsciously search for agents that cause events, even if they are, again, random or without directed cause. The two tendencies put together, along with natural paranoia, are a great recipe for percieving large scale conspiracies and such things.
They make for entertaining stories, at least.

P.S - The triangle-symbols thing just baffles me. It's one of the simplest geometric shapes out there. Am I honestly being told that in a world void of conspiracies, there would be less triangles being used for symbols?

Well I do see your point. With so many people and different personalities, it would seem that a few would turn on eachother within the group. I don't know if it has happened, because after all, it is a secret group. But what I can tell you is that many of these celebs and what not have rebelled (like Michael Jackson and Tupac) and of course, they had to be killed to prevent them from saying to much. Also, look through some of these rappers songs, like Tupac, as they will bluntly mention "illuminati".
