Enjoy my blog. I'll try and post stuff and update things from time to time.
Introducing... The Gender Guesser!
This website has a cool algorithm that was the result of a university research project whose goal was to evaluate the gender of an author. It's not 100% accurate but with larger amounts of text it gets scary close most of the time.

This could spark a little debate!
Quote:
In 2003, a team of researchers from the Illinois Institute of Technology and Bar-Ilan University in Israel (Shlomo Argamon, Moshe Koppel, Jonathan Fine, and Anat Rachel Shimoni) developed a method to estimate gender from word usage. Their paper described a Bayesian network where weighted word frequencies and parts of speech could be used to estimate the gender of an author. Their approach made a distinction between fiction and non-fiction writing styles.

Okay. First of all, I am NOT European. Second of all, either this thing doesn't work, or I write in ways that are different than how it usually processes. I seem to get female a lot too- oh well. I wouldn't mind being either European or Female, so why not? Maybe my subconcious writes in weird ways?Posted 10-05-2009 at 04:02 AM by Officelover
