Tron Legacy
I was wondering if any of you saw Tron Legacy? I loved the movie and now want to see the first one made back in the 80's.
What did you think of the movie? Did you like it or hate it? Also I "bought" the soundtrack by Daft Punk! Love it!

They do have to balance out story with action. I did they did a good job with it. It still had a lot of action though. Spoiler:
So do you think Clu and Kevin Flyn will live, after there little combustion? I wonder what is going to happen with Sam Flynn and Quorra now in the real world.

I don't know I didn't exactly love it, It was enjoyable enough and I loved the look and sound of it, the grid was very visually pleasing, I guess I just found the story a little cliche. But I would still recommend going to see it in theaters just to get the full experience.

the old one has a good story, but it has crappy visuals. I liked the new one and hope for a sequel, or even a prequel to the first one. (the first grid, and programs?)

I plan to watch the original Tron soon. Tron Legacy does a good job of explaining things. Since a whole new generation is not familiar with the original Tron. The original Tron is a cult classic. It was on of the first movies to use computer graphics. It was high tech for the 80's. I have no ideal how good it will be though. Quote:
What bugged you about the story? Make sure you put it in spoilers. Quote:
Sadly for the first Tron, it was ahead of its time and did not have our technology. So I'm prepared to see some 80's special effects. lol Quote:
I also thought the character Jarvis (pointy ears guy) was hot too! jk...

I liked it, I watched it in 2D though because the 3D one wasn't on for hours. I'd like to see it in 3D.
Garrett Hedlund ♥ And Olivia Wilde is my new girl crush!

The original was awesome as it dealt with many of the fantasies of anyone who was into the growing sensation of video game arcades. Although released in 1982, it was conceived by director Steven Lisberger when he played his first game of Pong!
The original special effects were stunning at the time and conceived the possibility that live actors could be interlaced with back-lit animation and recorded on film stock. These ideas were before Lucas and Industrial Light and Magic -- some say the original Star Wars was conceived during its original release. When I saw the movie in the theaters for the first time, it got me hooked on working the computer industry as the film was based on a society within a business mainframe computer system. Several years later, after the onset of digital film production, I looked back at the original and chuckled at the shoddy special effects. When I found out they had a computer with only 2MB of memory and 330MB of hard drive space, my impression was changed. I remember saying to myself "Imagine what they could have done with the computer of today!" Enter "Tron: Legacy" , an $170 Million 3D/IMAX film that has fulfilled those expectations to the limit. To see this film in any other format than 3D/IMAX does it a great injustice. As of Dec 23, it has already pulled in over $91 Million! |
