How do you become a staff member?

I'm very interested in finding out how to become one, So if someone could let me know that would be great!

That I think is annoying, I think it would be better to hold a vote whenever we need a new mod

No, because that would lead to a popularity contest. However they do it, it works.

Oh and Yours? I've never been asked to be a staff member, and I don't think I'm ever going to be asked.

collared is right on both counts, last I knew of depp and the mods discuss potential candidates when the need is there for them to make more mods, them if selected depp will PM the member to ask them to be a mod. I also think this is the best way to do it because as she said, this way they can chose whoever they think is best fitted to be the mods, rather than people voting for whoever their friends are- which may lead to someone more suitable being left on the side lines.

The citizens of the United States of America can hardly vote for good presidential canidants. Any time a vote is in place it truly does become a popularity contest.

That's true Star but more importantly we are users on the site, it's depp's site so he has the power, although he consults the others, he owns it so people should see it that way, he owns it and he chooses!

You have to have been around long enough to have spider webs collecting on you. The site must also have taken up a fair amount of your life because it really will when you mod

When we need a new moderator we discuss who we think would be good for the job from what we've seen of them on the forum etc. We agree on a person and then offer them the place pretty much.

Also, how about we don't turn this into an argument because you don't like how mods are chosen. It'd be nice to see a thread not turn into a debate seeing as that's so rare now.

It's worth noting that, although not the same, if you want extra getDare perks, you can donate a tiny fee to the site and you get a couple of extras.

I may have been misunderstood in m statement, I didn't mean people just vote for an random person, I was actually thinking of depp, and the mods choosing a few candidates, and then the members vote on who they want to see promoted.
And I'm not trying to turn this into an argument, I'm just stating my opinion.

If depp and the mods are going to choose a few, surely it makes more sense for themselves to choose one or two new mods when they need. To place a shortlist of people into a poll would a) become a popularity contest and b) be quite shit for the others not voted.

The mods and depp know who they want and who they believe would be the best, and that's that.

I don't know of any other website or forum that allows its members to choose the moderators.

And it's no big deal anyway because we only get a new mod once in a blue moon.

I don't think elected moderators are a good idea; popular moderators maybe not be good moderators - for example preventing 17 and a half year olds from SM talk maybe unpopular but we have to do it.

I do think that an elected executive committee would be a good idea. This would:

Represent forum members.
Provide ideas on how to take the boards forward & and possibly help in implementation.
Provide a route of complaint should someone feel they are being treated badly by a moderator.

Voting need not turn into a popularity contest. It depends what electoral system you use.
