I think shogi sounds better then go. Go is only 2 letters but shogi has 5 atleast.

No idea. "Shogi" sounds funnier though.

Go is probably the best abstract strategy game in the world.

...No, no it isn't.

Go isn't a checkers game. For a start, there's no movement in Go, you're dropping stones only.

A brief description, then: It's a game of territory control, and has deceptively simple rules. You play on a board consisting of 18x18 squares, taking it in turns to drop stones onto the intersections of the lines (so there are 19*19 places you can drop a stone), the aim is to surround your opponant's stones and thus take them, which scores you one point per stone, and surround as large a body of empty spaces as you can, which scores you one point per space. The game continues until both players pass the opportunity to take a turn.

Full rules can be found at http://www.britgo.org/intro/intro2.html

This description is more or less accurate. An important distinction between FIDE chess and Shogi is that in Shogi, like in you can drop captured pieces onto your side of the board as your own piece, and it isn't just pawns that can promote.

http://www.chessvariants.org/shogi.html has info on how to actually play it.

I wasn't explaining them to you, I was explaining them to the many who've posted in this thread who don't.

...While pointing out that it's almost entirely nothing like checkers.

Honestly - no attack on you was intended.

Go is a game of territory control. Checkers is a game of power projection (like chess is, actually).
