Prisoner’s Dilemma

The Prisoner’s Dilemma is a game theory exercise where two people are in a predicament where their cooperation can help each other, but only if there is mutual trust. Both of the players are interrogated individually. They must choose whether to betray the other, without knowing the other player’s choice. If neither player betrays the other, they both get off with a mild punishment. If one player betrays and the other does not, the player that betrayed gets a reward while the one who stayed silent is punished severely. If they both betray each other, both receive a moderate punishment.

This game has been played on the forum before, but it has not been run for a long time. I am offering to arrange and run a few games. I envision this running as something of an enhanced role-play. Once I have matched up two players, we will role-play the prisoner’s dilemma. However, based on how the role-play goes, you will be assigned a task (reward or punishment) depending on the outcome that you will actually have to complete.

I also think it would be entertaining to share the results. To start, I will try to run the game on Kik, and then post an edited transcript of the session in this thread.
