There is a little thing in life called "Common sense". If some one 18+ gives you a dare that is stupid/vulgar/outside your limits just don't do it. It's so simple. Like one stated in a previous post, no one is making you do anything. If you read a sign that says "Jump off this bridge" would you do it?

I agree here. No big mystery. And age is a tricky thing, y'know. I mean nothing is going to stop a kid's sexuality from emerging- and if they searched for this kind of site odds are they've reached a level of maturity compatable with some of the sexual content of some of this site. I mean we have a seperate section for stories, and teens can't post in the s/m lounge. That's better than some other sites. I mean like with porn (which, unrelatedly I do not use- back on topic) all a kid has to do is click the "Yes, I am over 18" button. Who is really going to stop them? Windows? The porn police?

It is wrong to give a kid a dare but the majority of the time you just dont know their age. not all of them say "hey im 15, give me a dare". some keep their age a secret and don't even have them posted in their profile. it is negligent for both parties because the adult didnt go through the entire investigation process and go through their previous posts or threads to find if they ever say their age and is negligent from the "kid" for failing to disclose such information.

but looking at the age they said they are isnt really enough either. i could claim i am 14 or i am 45. would you know the difference? no. is it a crime? no, unless you meet them. also, different states/countries have different laws on age of consent. here in Texas the age of consent is 17, while the majority of all other states in the country is set at 18. so here, a 17 year old is considered an adult to make their own decisions regarding marriage, and having sex with someone over the age of 18. also the starting age to get a drivers license is 15 here. these "kids" are mature and grown up enough to know what they are doing and what they want and dont want to do.

but admins, make it a requirement for those underage to have their age in their sig and/or profile.

I always post my age so there is no confusion. And I know for a fact I'd never meet anyone I met over the internet. Because no matter what someone says you don't know if they are who they say they are (That got confused). It happens to people, which I've never understood because I thought it was basic common sense. But you need to be mature which I think we are. We know what we are doing and the ones that are too young and immature, breaking the rules get banned.

Once again, what's to stop a kid from signing up with a fake age?

The way I see it, and no offence here...

But I love GetDare, please stop trying to change it, fact is, if you have a problem with it, then just do what CleverGirl did... Leave.

Just my opinion, but I hate change.

OFF TOPIC:

Ive followed this, and I just have one question:

Whats the age of the youngest player on get-dare? If 11 year olds have laptops and sick brothers who talk about getdare...how are we to pick out them out from the rest of us?

I know this might have been on peoples minds, as some of the kids out there know about the age restrictions and just put in the year of birth for like a, 18-19-20-21-22-23-ect. year old, and it has to be taken care of.

We should put more into signing up. Like..I don't know a question on light and heat wave relativity. (the little mirages that look like water on the road)

Generally you can tell how old they are by how they talk. This isn't true for all, but a larger portion I would say.

Sometimes they let their age slip by accident. Talking about their Birthday or something.

I'm 26 and haven't got a clue what any of that is myself.

Short of demanding anyone who signs up saying they're 18+ to have a picture of them with their ID in hand and making it an extremely large picture, I doubt there's a lot that can be done to prevent younger users signing up as older than they are. All we can do is ask everyone to let a staff member know (with proof) if someone is found to be underage.

It's like a lot of things in life, you can't guarentee anything, but if you start placing restrictions on stuff to prevent the few who do try and bend the rules and get round it, those who are honest and follow the rules wind up getting punished for it as well.

It also comes down to the individual as well, if that 13/14/15/whatever year old wants to do those sort of dares, then they'll end up doing them regardless, whether they do so by being honest about their age, or by lying about it, and people will be out there to give them those dares. I suppose at least being on here, and being honest, people can warn of dangers that are out there if a dare seems particularly risky for a younger user.

Although I did spend a bit of time going through the archives as I was bored, and I found that it was taken too far on some of Bettyboop's threads, where rather than her getting the dares she requested, she wound up with a ton of people giving "advice", I think one statement of "be careful if you do this because of *reasons*" is fine, it gives the person the ability to see if the risk is worth taking or not, but it is ultimately up to the person doing the dares to make the assessment. I see no reason to ruin the thread because of personal opinion, if you have concerns then raise them once (and if someone else has already raised them in the thread, I see no reason to make the same comment), if the person taking the dare still wishes to do them, it is completely their choice, you are choosing to read their thread, if you do not like it you can just not read the thread any further.

We have enough of a nanny state around as it is, without turning this forum into one as well.

I think I may have come across as ranting in places there, didn't mean to, just try putting across my point though I tend to not be all that great at doing that too well, however I'm pretty sure everyone can see where I'm coming from.

People are always going to find ways around things..

But on the point;
does this make you nervous

Last week a friend of mine sent a naughty picture to himself and his gf to his gf. Daddy saw it. He's a cop. On the stopinternetkiddieporn squad. Daddy is not a happy person. Friend is very scared person because Daddy explained that it doesn't matter who is in the pic if they U18, even if both are over the age of consent.
Nothing to do with the link. Just a coninkidink

Me? I've formatted my HD. Twice.

But I do love getdare.

GetDare doesn't permit pictures, as does it not allow under 18's to use the S&M advertisments. Mainly because of cam stuff.

Burrow, not to go off-topic. But I checked that link and that is stupid. How can they arrest her for child pornography when she is the child.
If she gets convicted she'll then be registered sex offender. She's 14.

See, while they "could" put her on the sex offenders register, the real problem then wont be that she's on it, but that it will make the entire thing wind up looking stupid, and thereby worthless.

"He's on the sex offenders register? So what? I know a girl of 14 who was put on it for taking her own pictures!"

It just means that unless you know actual details of someone's case, the fact they're on that register will be meaningless.

It's the same as the kids who are getting in trouble over child porn because they recorded themselves having sex with someone of their own age... It's basically taking the context of the law and using it in a way it wasn't really meant for, which was to protect the underaged against actual paedophiles. It's now being used because it's easy to make a quick arrest.
