Issue with Kik and new contacts

I've heard from several users that they seem to not be getting messages from new contacts via Kik. I tried to email Kik and the support email is no longer valid.

Has anyone found a way to fix this on the user end? I did the old IT Dept. fix, logged out and back in. That only seemed to just delete all my existing messages.

Its kind of hard to play with people if you can't Kik them.
