In general I recommend to extend when you do the initial promise. The game is about that you don't know how little or much you get, and then do it no matter how little or much. It's similar as changing the rules later. Looks a bit like you all want it. We all know we do it consensually, but the play is a little bit about pretending, and for real to give it into the hands of others.

A promise sets a frame in which others have control. If you change the frame later, you proof that you are in overall control yourself, and diminish the control of others. Nevermind changing something later if it turns out you made a BIG mistake, or canceling or not fulfilling your promise at all if it turns out to be unhealthy. Safety first. Real life first. But otherwise, take the games serious.
