The goal is for the large towels to be inaccessible to you. Use a combination lock and start an emalock session. Start with just two days. You won’t lose the towels forever, but once you click the lock shut you’re committed to 48 hours with only your skimpy towel.

Alternatively pop the key in an envelope and post it to yourself. When you are able to access the other towels relies on the reliability of the postal service in your area.

Let's reduce that to only a long t-shirt that barely covers your privates. The goal is to answer the door for take out in just that. After getting your food have a short conversation with one of your roommates.

Label the key for your towels. Leave it in a communal area.
On your way to your shower in just a longish but thin white or light coloured t-shirt, ask if you can borrow a towel as you've lost the key. If someone offers to get you one, ask them to just leave it outside the shower room do whilst you're in there.
Optionally you can leave your thin small towel in your room just in case.
