Wow, an end of series with a cliffhanger / plothole of sorts! (now that the series has finished I can read this thread again xD)
I was actually really impressed with the tone / pacing of the final ep - somehow it became so much longer and epic feeling than a regular ep (or any of the other finales) complete with really great time travel pacing; something that I think is well overdue in the show Spoiler:
...So who crashed the Tardis >.>

Spoiler:
THe events which happened at stonehegde are forgotten. Nobody remembers them. Though we know what it means don't we if the Tardis didn't explode... THe Angels survived. Well existed since they technically never existed. Thought it was a bit heartless of Rory and Amy to just leave straight after there wedding.

Spoiler:
Someone still crashed the Tardis, that evil croaky voice, I shall call him the Frog King, and the Doctor even said at the end something caused it and they had to find out what it was.
And it doesn't matter if they left; it's a time machine :D |

I instantly said Davros was controlling the TARDIS. But many questions are still unanswered. Why that date? Why not just drive the TARDIS to a zone which only only destroy the TARDIS. No real need to destroy the universe unless it had to be which would explain Omega. Also was puzzled how the TARDIS became the sun but had a solid stone in front of it blocking the escape. Then i realized the explosion was in fact closer to earth than the sun so could have been a part of venus or mercury. Tho i'd had thought we'd have been horribly fried if an explosion hat big was so close to us but neve rmind

Well yes you didn't seriously expect the Titanic to be the only historical object of earth to make it amongst the stars did you?
No, and neither did I imply that. The rule book was thrown out so any "plot holes" aren't worth quibbling over, in my opinion. Fantastic episode. Much better than what's gone before. However, less of the overblown from now on, I hope. |

IMO it was a pretty bad episode, they had dug themselves into such a huge hole that the contingency of the plot suffered to bring it back to a point at which they could have another series whilst keeping it as exciting as possible.
EDIT: Rory is rubbish, I wish he would die and be erased from history again.

Part of the... I dunno... plan? is to make the stakes higher every year. Hard to top last year's ending of time. I agree, plotwise, it was overblown but the little moments, for me, brought it back up. I liked the clever plotting, the links between episodes, the character moments. And Rory, previously a "meh" character was brilliant. I'm so glad he's staying. Give me him over Amy any day but, together, they're a great team.
This series, for me, has felt like a production team finding their feet. I'm sure next year will see better characterisation and more consistency and I also wouldn't be surprised if Moffat goes for a low-key ending I hope he does, anyway. |

It is not a 'plan' to make things higher stakes every year, that just happens because the writers want to top what was done last time.
I know opinions can't technically be wrong, but yours just are. |
