I didn't realise I was bashing.

I said I enjoyed the movie, did I not? I merely stated that Meyer has as much literary prowess as a 15 year old girl. The idea is original, but the novels are terribly written.

If I was bashing Twilight, I'd be saying "lulz teh movie is shit, the books r shit, ur all l0osers 4 liekin it."

Last I checked, the thread was about our feelings for Twilight...

This is true. I read the official description off the site that sells it (if I still had the link I'd post it.) Was fun of fangirls saying how they freeze it so that it feels like the real thing, etc.

I wish I was making this shit up.

Well.. I gave the book a try after my Goddaughter urged me to read it for about a month. Although she's a fan-girl, she wanted to know my 'honest opinion as a professional writer'. I told her that I found it pretty bad in terms of the prevailing literary standards, and that it does not inspire/provoke me directly (but it does do so indirectly by getting me to think about trends of contemporary society). I'm sure, however, that if the reader can construct some sort of personal meaning from a piece of writing, it is 'worth being read'. If she found personal value in the book, then it must have been a 'good' book for her.

A piece of literary 'virus' is something that spreads without such meaning-seeking intentions. My Goddaughter would recommend Twilight to a friend because she thinks it would be provoking, but I assume that such a mindset is rare when it comes to popular mass entertainment. Most of these products are mere opportunities for escapism, something that does not lead to further creation by the reader/viewer/audience...

I will stop ranting now and go eat breakfast =)

I knew this girl once. She's a bitch. And annoying. And obsessed with Twilight. Got her hair cut to a twilight like cut from one of the girls. Also carries one of the books in her purse at all times. Makes herself seem extremely pale by putting on loads of make-up that makes her look like an ugly french woman from the 1700s.

Did I tell you she's 19? Pretty pathetic.

And Twilight sucks, too by the way. I have a personal vendetta against for turning every good-looking cute girl I know into an imposter of some chick on the movie. It pisses me off. It really does. I hate Twilight and the whole freakin' saga. The writing does suck. I tried to read it once, and it's pathetic and awful.

And to add to the crap, Vampire books have become the latest hit.

Vampire:

Pale.
Creepy.
Drinks blood.
Can't go out in the sun.
(stalker tendencies)

Thus:

Pop hit.

That's actually kind of creepy. But not every girl who reads Twilight then tries to become a character from it.

Jaekus... I'm am going to have to say.

That...

is...

(bleep bleepidy bleep bleeper bleeper bleepideeper)... (use your imagination)

up...

I'm going to revise my statement: Twilight is not a virus. Some people have natural immunities all anti-cullens in their bodies. Along with Anti-Jacobs and Anti-Bella's. Nah, I am going to say that it's not bad to like something, but it IS bad to be absolutely obsessed with something on a freak level. Where your hair is exactly like Bella's (or whoever), your computer backround is a picture of Edward's head photoshoped onto some sexy body (likewise for Jacob and Bella), and you carry at least one of the books in your purse/backpack or whatever you carry things in at all times.

Then you have a problem!
