Here are a few tips...
You don't want to try to get all the way on the first try... but instead just see how far you can easily go and stay like that for a few minutes. I didn't use it, but yoga is really helpful just look online for so positions. It is a little easier to lay on your back and then curve the bottom of your back on to a wall or something... Sorry I am bad at giving tip and such.

the best thing to do is use gravity on your side
lie next to a wall. put your legs over your head etc like you think you would slowly gravity pulls your legs closer to your head. it slowly does it |

stretch your neck, back, and upper arms before doing it, it'll help you get further, and yes, go little by little
I've always found it most helpful to attempt it on my bed, because the soft surface allows some give in how your body bends, so you get a little bit more flexibility. began by trying to place my knees on either side of my ears, at the moment I can get the whole head in my just leaning over into a stretch, more if i go the whole legs-over-head style |
