1) Ip Man
This movie is largely unheard of. It is a true story about the life of the mentor of Bruce Lee, before Bruce was even born. It was released in 2008, but the movie takes place in the 1940's, during the seven year war between China and Japan. Yes, it is a Chinese made movie (so either in dubbed format or subtitles), but I promise it will change your life. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. (warning, some kung-fu scenes in this movie are highly graphic) 2) Snatch Another fairly unheard of movie. It stars Jason Stathum, playing the role of a underground boxing match organizer. A movie of pure mind games, and you will never be able to anticipate each twist and turn. 3) Green Street Hooligans This movie is about underground fighting clubs which support football (soccer) teams in Europe. Another life changing tale, with a deep meaning. 4) Boondock Saints Although this movie use to be fairly underground, it has risen to the surface lately to be recognized as the true treasure it is. Not sure if there is much of a moral purpose behind it, but for enjoyment purposes, this one deffinatly deserves its spot in the top 5. 5) Fight Club If you havent seen it, do it now. Cant really explain much about this movie without giving away key details, but every second of this movie you will enjoy. |
