The Odyssey, by Homer.
preceded by the Iliad (same author).
A greek epic narrative, that relates in the Iliad the events of the war of Troy, where Odysseus takes his army to Troy to reclaim the most beautiful woman alive, the lady Helen.
The Odyssey follows Odysseus' trip back to his homeland, as the Gods of Olympus (and Poseidon mostly) try to hamper his return for reasons dating back to the war of Troy.
A pivotal story of the world, and incidentally one that influenced many writers of that epoch, including some of those who wrote the Old Testament in the Bible, if you're interested to compare Loke. You might see some similarities in the stories; the Odyssey and the Iliad were written prior to the Bible stories as well. The archetypes used in the Odyssey are still in use in literature and movies today.Posted 03-06-2010 at 11:13 PM by interesting
