My geography book got some hurricane stuff wrong! They said to achieve hurricane status, the winds need to be over 75 mph. Didn't they look it up first?!? I guess not!
A hurricane is born when winds are 74 mph. Not 76 and over mph!
And wow! Get this everyone, my book also says the following, "Typcially, a half-dozen to a dozen hurricanes form each season and move through the region (they are talking about the Caribbean)" Don't they know that there is more to the Atlantic than just the Caribbean? I wouldn't say every season that many moves through, I would say about that much moves through that region more often than other regions. But still, it depends...
Wait, did I just read 6-12 hurricanes form typically in a season? Wow is that wrong. I would give them 6, but not 12. 12 hurricanes is above average for hurricanes.
