What is the best color shirt for a blue coat kit?

Hi All,

I need a help from you.

I have a wedding at night and my coat color is dark blue (Almost black). Can you please give me suggestions to what to wear under the coat kit.

NOTE: NO RIDICULOUS THINGS. If I want that, I would post in the TorD section.

I'm wondering what color shirt will match best for my coat kit. Please help me.

BTW I'm 24 years old and wedding is going to be held at a 5 star hotel.

Just a plain white shirt usually works, perhaps paired with a red tie? or is that too politician?

Yes, I was thinking white or pale blue shirt - or white with blue stripes. Paired with bright blue tie.

Yes My trouser and coat is black (Dark blue actually with shiny stripes on it). And my shoes are long pointy black shoes. I'm hoping to wear a tie. Didn't think about it yet. So basically I'll wear my coat kit with my shoes. What do you think?

Of course I had a lovely caring sister to ask, but unfortunately she does not live with us anymore. She is in abroad. The things is, still I have only one coat so have to deal with it. lol. And the wedding is on this Saturday so I have no time to buy a new coat.

Actually the groom is from my office. Even though he is senior to me, we are like friends, so I don't have to attend that function with a professional manner. Me too was thinking about the plain white shirt and later thought it will not work for a night function and it's too professional (I'm a wild person ).

Well, today I have ordered a white color shirt with tiny checks on it (really really small squares). The stripes are blue. I'm going to buy it tomorrow. The brand is Envoy. Any ideas about what color tie would match?
