Considering the advance of the Internet and its community as a whole, where/what would you say the world is headed to?

I can see the world becoming much more interconnected, and this will bring a greater understanding of other people, but I can also see cultures homogenising. Further, people have become much more tolerant of others, however, I think the impersonal nature of the internet allows people to be more aggressive.
