Book getDare Book Club

I really enjoy reading books and short stories, especially the erotic ones! I had had an idea that it could be a good idea to start a small little "book club" on this website. I had searched for best threads similar to a "book club" and found that many did not work for various reasons. I hope to have fixed these reasons.

Essentially, my idea is:
Every week or so, I assign a erotic short story to read. All the club members may chose to read the story and then give their input on the story afterwards. The erotic stories will mostly be shorter stories either from the getDare story section, literotica, sexstories.com, etc. The stories are short since assinging a 200-300 page book and sharing your input on it would take too long.
You may share what you liked about the story, what could have been improved, why you may not like the story, your just your overall thoughts on the story.
If the story posted is not "your cup of tea" you don't have to read it. I have open to reading most stories. Though it may sound "sick", I like to read dark fantasy stories about slavery, abduction, or just a different world.I also enjoy true, non-fiction stories. I may post reports from others on getDare, stories from getDare, or other erotic stories from other sites though everyone in the "book club" are allowed to share stories on what they'd like to read next.

I'm not sure how this will work but for now, if you'd like to join, just say so. I will post a story to read later in the week, unless another member would like to post one.
XOXOXO
Love Lia

My thoughts on
Blood, Sweat, and Tears are not enough
-DHK-eh

Overall, I really did enjoy this story. For me, I enjoy reading about suffering, tragedies, and dark fantasies. It may sound sick or awful but something about it being "wrong" makes it a little arousing. I think some of the best books and stories I have read always end with a tragic ending. Usually, a tragic ending will really make you ponder on it and leave your head spinning. That's exactly what this story did for me.

I really enjoyed the visible effort the author had put in. You could tell this story was not rushed and wrote in a few days, rather it took a little thought. The characters were well explained and I could truly understand each character's emotions, thoughts, and depict them from the various descriptions. My emotions were strong with this one. Reading about a world where women were merely sexual objects only used for entertainment was a little hard but arousing at the same time. A world that taught of the dehumanization of women as merely sex objects, where rape is acceptable, and where abuse is taught, was disturbing but at the same time, to me, was a little arousing. Now I know I may sound like the Devil himself while saying that but it just turns me on, strictly as a fantasy. When I was younger, I always acted as though I was kidnapped, abused, and raped and the only way I could solve and seek help was to find comfort in someone. Never did I think a strict "fantasy" would actually happen but it did. I was abused but it is part of my story now, a story that I am proud of. I guess I just like these stories because I actually have experienced these dark events and can relate to the depression and suffering the characters go through. The essence of love was visible in this story as well. The main characters were suffering from abuse and rape and all they sought was love, love from someone. Oz tried showing that to Kira but it was too late.

Anyway, I really did enjoy the story and I would certainly read it again. I really can't find anything that could have been better. I thought the author did a nice job in explaining the setting, the new world the story was surrounded by, and the characters. I think the ending could have been a little more thought out, something maybe a little more tragic. Maybe Fallon getting to hear Kira's last breath, not Oz. Anyway, tell me what you thought of it!

Caution! Definitely Contains Spoilers!

Blood, Sweat, and Tears are not enough by DHK-eh review:

I liked the story. The author wrote it well, and although there were some errors throughout, they weren’t major or too distracting enough to detract from the story. The author did a good job transporting you into another world. I liked his style of writing and his descriptions. I smirked when Fallon was trying to move the sleeping guy's arm with the power of her mind, and liked when Kira was giving Fallon a clue by gently caressing her hair, silently communicating her to go deeper.

I don’t like the world they lived in. I liked the personalities of the main characters. Oz was the way he was because he grew up in that society, but he had a good heart and his eyes were opened by Fallon and then Kira; a realization that didn’t last long for any of them.
That was a surprise. Creative writing. Kudos for that.

I saw a part of myself in all of them. I saw part of that world in this world, not to that extreme…
It just reminded me of what’s not readily accepted in the world, and of paradigms big, small, and similar, rooted in closed-mindeness.

I liked how Fallon had held out as long as she could, and how she spoke her mind once in a while - like when she told that guy to go use the restroom instead, and telling Oz basically “So what, do you want a cookie?” She hadn't totally given up, and she truly appreciated Kira.
I liked how she was smart. How she maintained her appearance just enough but not too much. Her thoughts on how beautiful wasn’t a compliment in that world, not from them.
I liked Oz’s and her courage at the end. I like how she thought of the opportunity in the distraction in the distance, the windshield, and in how she used her weight that one moment during the scuffle.

I liked how Kira had the inner strength and courage to always fight back no matter what, even though it almost killed her at times and eventually did. That is rare.

I liked the thoughts and dreams of both of the girls. I am happy that a part of Kira’s was actualized, if only for a brief moment near the end. I know it wasn't close to the setting she wanted, but it happened. It seemed like they were starting before they ended. I wish Fallon could dream of more than just beautiful ceilings. I wish she was free to imagine what she desired and eventually realize it someday.

I like happy endings. I can imagine an ending where Oz keeps Fallon and Kira permanently after high school. The author mentions that possibility in the beginning of the story, and they are seniors after all. He can let them know of his plans and they can all try to stay out trouble until then (Fake it till you make it, baby). He will have his own place with beautiful ceilings that change each month with new pictures... And the rest is "a new story" for another time.

Blood, Sweat, and Tears are not enough by DHK-eh review:
(SPOILERS)

The background
A well set story, the men dominating women, that's really exciting to see in a story. But I have to say that I don't really like that much blood and such a brutality, it just isn't my type.

The characters
This is what I most liked in the story. Well thought characters, very representative and different. I really liked Kira as the rebel, she is the type of character I like. Then Oz... Oz was too typical, it's like the every-story-bad-guy-who-turns-into-a-good-guy-and-dies-at-the-end

The story
I liked it very much at the beginning and I was very curious about where will it go. Then my curiosity stalled, and started to grow again when they took Kira and Fallon into the car. It was really interesting since then.

The Ending
Spoiler:
0/10

I really didn't like it. It is just not the kind of ending I would like in a story this kind...

Overall
As a sex fantasy story 3/10

As it wasn't anything I expected it gets poor notes. Of course, the author shouldn't care about this, because it is a very very subjective opinion

My thoughts on:
Illegal Love
-Between You and I (Quotev.com)

Though the story was not a very erotic story filled with kinks and fantasies, I loved the story. I wanted to change the genre of the story to romance since most seem to enjoy romantic stories. I thought the story was really well written though it could have been better with spelling and word choice. Apart from those mistakes which seem to be in any story, I thought the author did a very good job. Like any romantic novel, the story was filled with arguments, fights, and tragedy but I really enjoyed that the author had ended with a happy end.

I thought the author did a great job in describing the characters both mentally and physically. Sydney had to make a huge decision at a young age. She did not know what she was getting into and through the numerous tragedies, she faced, love prevailed. It was beautifully written story that showed you how strong love can be. Love has no age. Love has no boundaries.
Please feel free to share your comments on the story and make suggestions for the next story!

Your review makes me want to read the story now

I have decided to write a review on this one even though it isn't my cup of tea. I don't want you to be the only member in this club to review a book. I know how it feels like to be the only one to post (even though it's not so important initially), though it is nice when people voice their support and are encouraging than to do so in silence. I've done that before, and so do others, but usually it's because we don't realize it. I've thought something was good before and assumed everyone knew, and that's why sometimes nothing is said. I've learned to give compliments, support and encouragement since then.

I am a romantic, but I am a picky reader; however, I've come to realize that it benefits a person to give reviews of things they like and don't like, even if it isn't their cup of tea. It shows growth and expansion.

I look forward to the stories and reviews we all contribute in the future.

I haven't thought of a story I can share yet that most would like. I'm pretty sure my fellow club members have way more experience than I, and I do not want to disappoint their taste. I will if I happen to find something that is good and suitable enough.

I plan to submit this review before the next story announcement.

I am glad you started this book club and want to show you my support and appreciation. I hope for its longevity, but will try my best from week to week.

Good night

Default Supporting My Princess!

Book Club!

Princess,
I have figured out that I can make time to read the stories in which you fine interesting and then give my comments on them from my side. I want to support your efforts in what you are trying to do here. As that is very important, with you starting this "Book Club." I know that you are hoping it will grow with others joining and that will mean so many different views. I wish and hope that many more will join as well, and that will really make this a success. Caution! Contains Spoilers!

Illegal Love - Author: Between You and I (from the website Quotev.com)

I agree with the proofreading; it was noticeable this time, but not too horrendous to discontinue reading.

I feel Sydney is romantic even though she doesn't think so. I think someone who can appreciate good romance has a little bit of it in themselves as well.

Johnny is pretty smooth and romantic. He gets a bit grabby and jerky often enough to the point where it made me apprehensive at first, but the rest of the story helped to dispel that sentiment as it worked for him, not against him. He really cares about her. He stays with her even though it's dangerous for him to do so, and even gets beat up for it.

He didn't realize she was almost eighteen, which is understandable because she was alone at her dentist's office on a routine checkup filling out paperwork. It's not uncommon for some people who are eighteen years or older to still be on their parents insurance. I don't see how she was filling out something other than an appointment sign-in sheet - insurance forms are filled out on the very first appointment or when an insurance plan changes. That detail aside, he must have been really focusing on her (and her name) because he failed to notice the date of birth which is requested on those forms.

He didn't seem like an alcoholic, but rather a heavy social drinker. That's not abnormal. He also drank heavily during the miscarriage, which is understandable. He was really hurt.

The father caused the miscarriage by angrily grabbing Sydney by the neck, hurting her. He also laid a hand on her mother earlier, both incidents causing her Mom to file for divorce.

I liked how the everyone was there for them with the exception of her father. I'm glad her brother came around. She has a good friend in Alexis. Johnny's mother's reaction was very amusing; she seems like an interesting person. Sydney's Mom's support for her was awesome; it's cool how she worked with her lawyer to help Johnny.

I like the happy ending. I actually thought he was proposing on her birthday - they planned a pregnancy. Maybe they will get married in the future or not. There are different views on marriage.

I think the BMW was a bit much. I know they haven't known each other for that long and their relationship was going really fast, but she already has a car, and that's just something I envision them doing in the future together. It seemed a little out of place.

Anyways, thanks for the story and happy ending

Good night
