The Accent Challenge Part Deux: The Bard

I love accents and I love Shakespeare, I'm going to combine the two! So I want everyone here to pick a monologue from Shakespeare and read it here. You can truncate it if you want since some of his are very long, but it would be much better to hear the whole thing.

If you are super brave film yourself reading it instead of just doing audio.

Here are some resources that might be helpful in finding and recording

Vocaroo: A good source for recording

Complete Works of Shakespeare This is good for reading the whole play and/or getting the monologue in context, plus I think this has fewer errors than the next site.

Shakespeare Monologues This site lists just monologues by men and women speakers

How to Read Shakespeare This short article gives a few tips on how to read the monologues.

I want to join in on the fun! But I think I'm going to be terrible at it. Talking in Shakespearean English is daunting for someone who isn't a native English speaker.

I can't say that I'm very versed in Shakespeare and I haven't read too much of it. I've only read what I needed to for school but when we did our Romeo and Juliet unit everyone I'm the class got a character and we read aloud. It was so fun! So I would love to do this recording but didn't know what monologue I should pick.

Any suggestions? I would appreciate it!

I have a favouring for A Midsummer Night's Dream (studied it for ~15 years in total O.o) r Twelfth Night (due to a successful run at the Victorian Baths).

Will listen to yours later, Happyme127 - looking forward to it.

Ya know what - I think I'll go through all of them, when I get a chance to start recording. Anyone think yes?
