Under 18 zone, a solution?

Doctor, TORD wasnsplit up, it was an over 18 area, and an everyone area. Thats what I think the problem is, the adults giving us bad dares to do.
And I just said lounge as a suggestion.

Well in my opinion anyone over 18 who posts suggestive/inappropriate dares to minors should be banned. But some of us, hello, are sound and we like the interaction. Many people over 18 are sensible and might give silly dares which aren't at all sexual, but then the ones who do ruin it.

But don't forget the other side - there are many under 18s who post stuff asking for sexual dares/suggestive/adult dares, so they're just as much in the wrong too.

I just don't see the split as being important. If people break the rules and are morally stupid by giving inappropriate dares, they should be kicked off the site and told to grow up/learn how to act around people of different ages.

But still, like I've been saying, overs have there own areas where you can play tord, why can't we? That's the main focus of the site is it not? If we had strict rules with a one strike policy, I think it would benefit the whole site.

Basically this. That's why U18s keep getting banned from certain sections as much as we tried to keep everyone in them they're doing and posting things that are inappropriate and we'd rather the site doesn't get shut down.

The site was going to be made 18+ depp tried to get a fix for people who were already on here so they wouldn't have to leave and basically no one has even changed a little bit to help out.
We're lucky we didn't have to kick all the under 18s out all together, we have to try our best not to have any more complaints against the website right now and I'm not sure that this idea is going to be helpful.

Just ban them. If people can't understand rules, they shouldn't be here. It's a very simple concept and the rules are laid out pretty clear.

And yeah, have a TORD place for under 18s but why should overs be banned? Like I said, some of us are quite happy to abide by rules and therefore give non-sexual dares. Don't restrict the community because some adults are perverts or can't grasp moral rules and concepts.

This, a lot. People are quick to say "shut out the over 18s then", but that's one perspective. I've seen countless threads recently of 14 and 15 year olds posting "give me sexy dares because I'm horny" and they don't help themselves. I don't think it should be allowed that under 18s can sexually dare each other but hey.

I just disagree this concept would work. What we have now is working and the best way to go (well, it has to be, because it's how it is at the moment), clearly. Depp's never gunna please everyone and if some places are out of bounds, that's how it has to be.

Plus, if you wanna play TORD, go in the chat room and play live. Or PM each other, or use VMs. There are alternatives out there if you can't properly post in various areas.

I mean, what really is the point. We are not taking any new users that are under 18. Does it suck now if you are under 18? Yes. But the amount of users that are under 18 are going to slowly dwindle and eventually within the next 5 years, everyone will be over 18 and we will all have a grand old time. May this fix the solution in the short term? Yes and no. Yes because the minors have a section to post in. No because then the mods need strict moderation and no offense to any minors, the people who really help us do the job, THE REPORTERS, for the most part are over 18. That doesn't mean we don't do any checking or that minors don't, but it was just too much of a hassle during the brief period we did have the under 18 section open.

Nice idea on paper, but there are so many problems with it. Read all comments above and was about to state as MBP did, how many users are under 18, and how many regularly participate. These numbers are already slowly dropping as they would anyway.

Not only that but how many people have actually read the rules?
How many people know them?
How many people could easily find a set of rules eg) Posting rules?

Not all over 18s post sexual things to the under 18s. SOME of us as sensible. getDare has been split before. It didn't work then and it won't work now. You're just suggesting more work for the mods and for Depp himself, who, by the way, has a life outside of getDare, as any reader of his blog will know.

We do not need any more changes to the site itself. The responsibility is down to INDIVIDUAL members to use COMMON SENSE when posting dares and the like. I know this may be hard for a lot of members to comprehend, considering so few actually know what common sense it, let along how to use it.

Don't try and change things for those who CAN behave just because some people are too moronic and/or lazy to take the time to use common sense and/or check profiles or whatever.

I think it would be a great idea to split the TorD section into an adult section and a minor section. This way, adults don't have to worry about the legality of the dares they give, and minors can still join in the fun. As for the lounge, perhaps this section should have an Adults-Only area (so over-18s can post threads too inappropriate for minors), but it would be nice to keep it mostly combined so that everybody can talk casually to each other.

However, there are certainly problems with the immaturity of some minors (not all of you, only some!). Under no circumstance should under-18s be giving or receiving or requesting dares about sex, porn, drugs, etc. If that can be moderated, this idea would work great. After all, TorD was a game mostly played by kids in the first place... If you get rid of all minors then you destroy a huge part of the site.
