Nintendo 64
So I found a site you can buy a Nintendo 64. They offer different packages and games. For around $200 I could have a full 2 person set up and a few games.
Should I actually start saving for this?

I had one before Katrina, but with the storm I lost it to flooding. I have a wii now, but I want the 64 back. So now I think this will be my next save-to-buy. I wanted to see what other people thought about it.

I definitely think it's worth it. The N64 was so much fun to play and even a few games still hold up.

Honestly for $200, i would not get it unless you like playing vintage games. You can get a Playstation 3 or an Xbox for that price but if you really want a 64 then check out these links....you will save alot.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nintendo-64-...item1e82b60375 Also you can look around on Ebay and bid for on eon auction and get it alot cheaper than the "Buy it Now" option. I bought a 64 a while back with 24 games, 3 controllers and a memory card for $50 on Ebay but now i have moved on to a Playstation 4. Plus on EBay you can find N64 games for about a dollar. I bought some awhile back for about 50 cents a piece on Ebay Hope you find what you are looking for and please PM me if you have any questions!

N64 is one of my favorite consoles. It had so many great classic games, especially from Nintendo and Rare. Getting one sounds like a good idea, but take into account two things:
1. The controllers for the N64 weren't that good. By now, almost all of them will have bad control sticks. You can get them fixed (or do it yourself with replacement sticks bought on the net and an online tutorial). But keep that in mind. 2. The Wii and Wii U have digital stores that sell N64 games. Not too sure if the Wii store is still up, though. But if it's just one or two games you are after, it may make more sense to buy them for one of these consoles to save you money. You can buy a classic controller to play them. I hope you enjoy those classics again. Which games are you looking forward to playing again? |

Try to find it cheaper if you can but getting another N64 is a great move. Super Smash Bros, Mario Party 1-2, DK 64 are all wonderful games that I miss greatly.

As always, it depends:
What games are you getting with the console to make the package worth $200.00 dollars? How many controllers/memory packs/rumble packs does it come with? Is there no place nearer to you that will sell you used games for cheap?

You can play N64 games on the Wii if I remember right, and there are slots for the controllers too. Get the good games, a couple of controllers, why go to the expense of getting the console?

While it is true that you can play some N64 games on the Wii and hopefully sometime the Wii U console, take this into consideration. Every great game from Rare like Diddy Kong Racing, Donkey Kong 64 and Banjo-Kazooie, ever since Microsoft bought Rare, no longer on the Nintendo consoles. But also having said that, I still have my N64 and I have been buying every system up to the Wii U from Nintendo. And while I do have the most advanced system of the Nintendo family, I still break out my N64 and just have a ball playing it. Now while I don't know about pricing or anything as I got the console when it came out I'm not sure if $200 is worth it, just if you do decide to buy the Rare games, buy them used on amazon. Some of those games brand new can reach up to $500. That may be an indication of how good they are. Other games I would consider are Extreme-G, Mario Party 2 or 3 NOT ONE, if you buy one you will break your controller or hurt your hand...or both, and if you're an FPS fan you can't go wrong with Goldeneye. Oh and StarFox64 is a classic too. But I could talk your ear off about that, but to answer your question. If you want to play some awesome games and the full N64 library I would save up for it, but if you only want to play some of them I would suggest going for the Wii as you can get a lot of good games there.
For all those reading this wondering why I didn't mention Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask, yes they're both great games but I believe they are over-hyped.

Everyone here is pretty much spot on. Unless the N64 and the games are sealed and brand new, it's not worth $200. There are lots of places you can get that stuff for much cheaper. Check around your area, there might be some game shops (besides Gamestop cause it blows) that deal in older consoles and games.

Yeah I hadn't put too much thought into it. I just saw a post on tumblr that had some N64 games on it, so I kinda just went with the first site I saw.
I really want Mario Kart, Banjo Kazooie, and Starfox.
