if you'd like to buy something purpose made, i'd highly recommend getting a thin acrylic cane, around 5mm diameter. i find them easier to aim with power than natural cane.

if budget / access is an issue then a pervertible i like is cheap thin plastic clothesline. you can make some loops then wrap off one end as a handle using eg more of the line, or tape.
