they told a girl to strip, a 13 yo old girl that's not even high school yet, I seriously doubt they'd do it by force, they'd tell her to go home at worse if she didn't cooperate

If I was the parents I would have pushed to have them charged as sex offenders; she's 13 for goodness sake - you don't just get a free pass at getting her to strip just because you are in a position of authority, you call the bloody parents first.

In reply to Coyote,
The fact that she was accused of having over the counter drugs is, in my opinion, one of the most important parts of this. If you can get high of Advil, I would like to know how. That it is available anywhere without medical consultation, means that the medical fraternity, the FDA, and many other authorities believe that this drug is safe enough to allow people to self medicate with. The fact that this drug is entirely legal means that the illegal and discusting methods used to ascertain whether she had them on her even more abhorant. If the act didn't warrant them caling the police, it (in my opinon) didn't nescessitate the measures taken, and this is probably part of the reason she won in court. How are students supposed to build the trust relationship nesscary in the learning process if those they are supposed to be able to trust can perform such an act. Only the police should be allowed to perform such an act. Puggsley |

Ibuprofen can be very dangerous if you don't need it and if you overdose, and if you took it too close together.
But, I do think it was stupid what the school did. They could have handled that situation much differently |

That was horrible, that poor girl. That is politically correctness gone mad, what was she going to do, spike the water fountains? Utter fools, poor girl, I agree with BettyBoop I'd have said "you can't do that. Go away!" (Only not as polite) It's not like it was a gun, was it? You never hear of anything like that happening in my neck of the woods. In my school, in which I spent over 5 years, pupils were never strip searched (then again we're British, we're too PC to do that). However, we did have a world record in the number of teachers arrested for being peodophilles.
Hmm, makes you think. I do feel awfully sorry for the girl though. . . tragic! I hope she wins her court case thing

actually you can get drugs out of ibuprofen, i don't know how exactly, but in Australia they have to restrict the selling of it OTC cos of teenagers who buy shitloads of it and distil it to get Ephedrine. You mix that shit with caffeine and its got a kick that you wouldnt believe. To be honest, whilst this is a horrendous case I don't think it's actually all that bad, she was searched by females and she did keep her knickers on at all times. They only really went totally overboard by making her remove her bra. Although, no matter what reasons they gave, it shouldn't have happened, and its sad cos these kind of stories just reinforce international prejudice that the USA is fucked up in all ways, which is really quite unfair to most of its citizenry.

Oh god.
Oh no. Oh god no. Thats just.. That could..happen to me. I am nice enough to lend someone meds, even if they didn't need it. I am naughty enough to break school rules, yeah, sure, no problem. But STRIP SEARCHED? WTF? Where is this girl now? Those assholes. But, anyways, the convo would go something like this. Quote:
