I really don't think I like the new series at all though. I'm still not sure I'm a fan of Clara at all as the companion. I never have been sure. Then again I'm still not sure ill ever get over Amy Pond. I don't like Capaldi for the role. He's brilliant in other things but I'm just really not fond of him in this and I can't place why. I've a huge loathing for whatever the writers think they are doing this series too. The writing is a pile of balls IMO. It's just messy. Loved the back referencing in episode 1 but I genuinely think that might well be and continue to be the only thing I like about this series. I guess all we can hope is that it gets better but I'm not holding my breath for any miracles I get the whole thigh with Clara not feeling like he's right, and the doctors confusion and the emotions from the episode but given it's something they've never bothered with previously - doctor has always seemed to know who he was and what he was doing, and so much for impossible girl, it just annoyed me. It seemed like padding. I love the idea of an older doctor at last but I'm finding myself more and more frustrated with the series the more I think about it

My experience watching this season has basically been:
"Wow, that was a cool idea." "Wow, that's crappy." "Wow, that's crappy." Traditionally series' have been a mix of good and bad episodes, but the first two so far have just been a mess of terrible mixed with hints of genius at random. So all over the place. And then I see the next episode preview and think "Ugh. I guess I'll watch it anyway." |

I didn't even know this series had re-started which makes me wonder just how poor the BBCs advertising campaign was. But it gives me something to watch on Saturdays.

They change to a different Doctor Who every week-one minute it's one guy the next it's another one.

Rather enjoying the series so far. Felt that this week's episode was an improvement on the last two, though they're all "decent" in my view. Next week looks set to be vastly overrated. Loving Capaldi and Coleman; just wish the writing was better (time for Steven Moffat to move on, I reckon).

I totally agree. Steven Moffat needs to go... Matt Smith was a great Doctor, but was let down by mediocre scripts, and season arcs. There were some great eps, but they were few and far between. It looks like its continuing with the new guy. Just wasn't that bothered by this weeks episode. Interesting idea, but just didn't really go anywhere. I hope it picks up soon.

Hooray! It's definitely about time he left - it's long overdue, in my opinion. I feel it's a bit of a shame he's still knocking around for Series 10. I'd have preferred a two year break off-air before Chibnall, in order to bring the show back with a bang. Instead, it feels like we're in for more of the same after a year off, and that could put people off. Time will tell, I guess. Not looking forward to the Christmas special or Nardole though.

Had absolutely no idea there was a Who-thread on here!
...I like Capaldi's take on the role, but feel like Smith that he's been let down by Moffat's showrunning skills, or lack thereof (I'm hoping against hope that he stays on for at least some of Chibnall's run!) I think it's somewhat telling that whilst RTD was in charge you could barely move for Doctor Who tat in the shops, and nowadays the merchandise only has shelf-space in the more traditional nerd/comic shops again. But in the meantime there's always the Big Finish audios (well some of them, sadly BF occasionally lapses into the outright sexism that the classic-era fell into during the Pertwee years), EDAs, PDAs and Virgin New Adventures to tide me over. |

Rose. I cried a lot over Rose. But I also cried when Donna thought that she understood...and when the Doctor... Ah! RTD is my hero. The Moff wrote "Blink" and I honour him for that... And then came the Eleventh Hour and the Ponds and the red high heals of River! And although everything is wonderful and the stories incredibly good - I stopped crying at some point. I'm not saying that the stories are less in any way... I'm just saying that I stopped crying. I'm saying that... Peter is closer to the old Doctors than Chris or David or Matt... but the stories feel.... empty? They don't make me cry anymore. I'm such a silly old dork.
