I am also that successful businessman who makes tough choices nearly every day. I'm in a high stress environment during the day and sometimes it's nice to come home and hand that responsibility to someone else.

While I have that, I've also got a past. One that no one but myself and the other involved know about. I was abused when I was young and will carry that to my grave.

I too believe that it's not necessarily just a choice or a past that makes a person submissive. Some of these things may have ripple effects or may steer us in a certain direction, but I don't believe these things have a definitive role in being sub. We are extremely complex creatures.

I agree with what many others have said- we all go through shit in our life but that doesn't MAKE someone a sub...we just are, it's part of who we are.

I'm a switch, but from my submissive perspective I find this poll stereotyping & probably offensive. I guess you need further education about BDSM bro. If someone is submissive without being aware of his "consent" to things or because of lack of self-worth or due to any past traumas then that's an unhealthy toxic relationship. Submission is an optional role, a side of the two sides, a part of a big scene. Dominant people need subs to gain pleasure & vice versa..
In fact, I guess being submissive requires more courage & confidence to consciously "let go" of control over oneself.
