So, I only just noticed, but when You write a visitor message to someone, it doesn't let you have it to short, I was just wondering why? is it to stop spamming or something?

The purpose is to avoid pointless single-word posts for instance:

Incidentally, quotes don't count in your quota I noticed - so if you do all the reply inside QUOTE tags, the system doesn't think you have written anything!

Still if you are posting on a profile it should not have a maximum of characters because it is fun to post something like xD.

As much as I love 'xD', that alone is crap, even on a profile where pretty much anything goes.

The 16 character requirement in posts is to discourage poor quality posts. It's the same in visitor messages but we enforce attempts to get around it a lot less.
