A Love Like No Other

Some strange things started happening to me about a week ago.

I am a pianist. I do not play for money or fame, or even for an audience; I play only for myself. In my lonesome bungalo I spend the better part of each evening banging away tirelessy at the keys. But one particular night, when the wind was cold and the sky was damp, I felt an urge to play softly. My fingers caressed the keys like the soft skin of a woman. With my eyes shut and my hands flowing I played the most enchanting melody. I played through the night and into the next morning. The wind seemed merely a faint echo in the distant by this point. Sunlight brought tranquility for some, but it brought my fingers plunging down on the piano with a forceful rage.

I have never felt that way before. But for an entire night, I was possessed by the soul of a lover. I have never felt love and perhaps never will. I found it difficult to go to work the next day, but I'm glad I did.

I walked into the office and immediately felt a small draft. A chill touched my skin and I flinched. No one was near me. It was okay. Again I felt the touch of a woman on my back.

"Touch me," she whispered. "Hold me. Play me."

I shook my head and looked up. The open window had been shut, and my eyes regained focus. A few puzzled looks were shot my way by co-workers, and I hurried to my cubicle. The day passed on normally but I cannot say the same about the night.

The sky again grew dark and the wind quickened. The keys thudded and the melody drifted back and forth through a maze of emotions. As the wind grew stronger, my playing grew quieter, and a gentle hand touched the back of my neck. I screamed.

The woman put her hand to her lips and hushed me into silence. Without saying a word, she stood behind me and firmly grabbed ahold of my wrists. Pressing hard, she forced my hands down on the piano and the most wonderous sound was produced. It was unlike any chord I had ever heard. She relinquished her grip and her hands, as smooth as the keys from the night before, moved down my body giving me a sense of pleasure like I had never felt. My hands kept playing with the same beauty and poise that she had gifted me. I was again prepared not to sleep, but my hands suddenly stopped and she led me to my room.

I cannot recall exactly what she looked like, and I am still unaware of how she entered my house, but I am forever grateful for the powers she left me.

When I woke up the next morning, she was gone, but I was happy. I went to work with a mission that I finally had the courage to carry out. I only needed a plan.
