Cheers Marc. Although I must say this to you.

GRRRR! It's not "Dr Who"... it's "Doctor Who" [Mod Edit: okay, corrected!]

Agh, sorry, but as a die-hard fan, it bothers me

Lols, it's fine though

Well the Peter Cushing films were called Dr. Who, but they're not really cannon (hopes he's used the correct spelling of cannon or is it canon)

It is spelt "canon".

And nope, they're not canon. Far from it. But good fun!

I agree - Peter Cushing is never counted as a Doctor in terms of regenerations although Paul McGann in the 1996 film is. Perhaps because that was a BBC joint venture rather than the 6's films which weren't(?)

Cushing never was a Doctor. He was a totally different character - human, from Earth and simply called Dr. Who.

Thanks for changing the title

And McGann is the official 8th Doctor, whether we like it or not

Had to throw that in for the Baker (Colin) fans!

The reason why McGann is the official 8th is because they hoped the movie would lead into a series. Thank God it didn't. That's all I'm saying

Indeed they have quite a forbidden planet feel to them, in the shooting and special effects. (given two options of words with the same sound, similar meanings but two different spellings, nine times out of ten I'll pick the wrong one. Does that seem right to you?)

Oo talking of non-canon Who, did anyone watch that flash animation series on the bbc website years ago (must have been 2003/2004) with Richard E Grant as the Doctor? Must say i rather liked his interpretation of the character, nice and dark.

That's the one, written by the late great Douglas Adams if memory serves.

Think paul mcgann had the potential to be a good doctor, the problem with the film was the americanisation of it i think.

That's the exact problem. They made the mistake of making it for an American audience. Hence the reason we got the sci-fi and the whole love/romancy bollocks.

Loved: The Doctor & TARDIS

Hated: Portrayal of 7, the Master, too much fanwank, the Eye... the list goes on

Also, it depends when you watch it. If you watch it when you're in a good mood, it's just fun! But if you're a fan, it's kinda shitty...

There'll be a work around I'm sure if they want to keep it going then. If i remember correctly the number of regenerations has gone up in the past.

Also the master got his regenerations back, can't see why the doctor can't be given a new set, i know time lords destroyed and that, but the darleks seem to be able to make it back can't see why they couldn't. Yes would be breaking the laws of time, but a certain master I'm sure wouldn't be too adverse to that, and there may also be other time lords in hiding waiting to be triggered.

It's open to a lot of possibilities from a writing point of view.

Think it'll be a few years off yet. Tennent is confirmed after this series coming for about 3 or 4 specials in the following year (he's with the rsc doing hamlet) and i believe he's down for a series in the following year.

So even if he left after that and doctors 11 and 12 only lasted a year each (rather unlikely) we're talking 4 years time.

By which time anything could have happened.

I still think that "Doctor Who and the Curse of Fatal Death" is the best...

But seriously, I think we all should agree -right now- that Steven Moffat is the best scriptwriter out there right now. Coupling, Jekyll and the only episode of the "new" Doctor Who that actually frightened me (Blink). I hear that he's been given a two-parter in the next series. I -cannot- wait!

^^ Hoorah to all us Doctor Who geeks.

Tate will be good. She wouldn't be cast if she was shit. Don't base her on her comedy show, she's nothing like that. And it is for the kids mainly, but I agree, no more Scissor Sisters.
