This IS an add-on to several stickies/ threads, and is a guide to specifically help new members blend in. I've also decided to post each category separately, so I can link to them in the Table of Contents. Mods, feel free to edit this if you think something is wrong.

Oh! And one last thing, if I mentioned certain uhh... members, please don't take it personally. I love you all.

ULTIMATE NEWBIE'S GUIDE TO GETDARE (by Angel)

The Forums:

(This is a general add-on to THIS STICKY. )

Truth: Only post truths that you want OTHER PEOPLE TO ANSWER in this section. If you have more than one, put them on the same thread. There's no need to clutter up the front page.

Dare: Only post dares that you want OTHER PEOPLE TO DO in this section. Do not request dares. If you can think of more than 6 NEW and/or IMPROVED dares, I would suggest that you make a dice and ost it in the DICE DARE section instead.

Truth or Dare Stories:
Main: For stories related to TorD, D/s, etc.
R18: Mature Stories: Stories of taboo, incest, rape, blackmail or anything potentially offensive. 18+ only.
The Author's Cafe: A place where writers and/or general gD members chat about stories, writing, books or to share non-sexual/ tord related literature.
Trial: getArt Gallery: A place for people to illustrate stories, post artwork, etc.

Slave/Master Area:
Main: Place for people over 18+ interested in D/s to post personals. Post as much information as you want. The more the better. *SPECIAL NOTE TO NEW MEMBERS: Please DO NOT expect replies straight away. People like to know they can trust you, before trying anything.*
Punishment & Ideas: Post ideas for punishing slaves, ideas of how to submit, dominate, and examples of scenes etc. DO NOT ASK FOR ANY IDEAS HERE. They go in TORD ONLINE section. And don't come in here if you get freaked out easily.
Slave/Master Lounge: Anything related to BDSM, D/s etc., that wouldn't fit in the other sections. General talk about the world of fetish, kink, etc.

Lounge: Off topic chat and conversation about various topics. Forum rules still applies here, so do not post porn, pictures with nudity etc. Do not post personal rants and/or vent in this area. These go in YOUR BLOG. Depp doesn't like it when people are unhappy about his site. But he'll pretend to listen anyway.

Tord Online:
Post here if you want to request truths, dares, ideas, punishments etc. You should always post your gender, age, limits, likes etc.

Elite Member Area:
If you're under 18, don't bother trying to get in here. Unless you become super-dooper-uber-cool. And make sure you can run fast. If you don't smell good enough, the cougars might come and get you!

getDare.com:
This area is not used often. Only post here if depp screwed up something. Or you have problems with a certain part of the site.
Suggestion Zone: Post nifty suggestions for the site in here. Just make sure you check if it's been mentioned before first.

Best of the Forums:
What the title says. But the moderators never remember to update this section. But if you ever happen to see a very very good post, then by all means, PM a mod.

Trashcan:
The funniest section to read, the hardest section to post in, and the worst place to have a post end up. Yep, it stinks.

The chat:

Try and type in PROPER english. Also, try and find an original colour. It gets really annoying when 3 people are chatting in black and you can't see which is which.

Quick tips:

/me -insert action here-
This displays as 'LilAngel -insert action here-'.
For example: '/me sits down' would display as 'LilAngel sits down.'


More tips:
- Don't ask for dares in the lounge. Members don't respond well to that.

- Don't ask underage people to be your slave/ master.

- Don't ask people to go on cam. Don't offer people to watch you on cam. This is for the TorD section.

- Don't ask ASL before you have a proper conversation. Make sure if you ask, that it isn't in their profile first.

- Give out cookies. It makes you sound nice. And say hello to the people just coming in.

- Never use camouflage fonts. They are REALLY annoying. Don't use light blue either.

- Mods are the people with the BLUE DOTS. Don't annoy them.In fact, don't annoy anyone at all. (however, annoying yourself IS an option. Click on your own username, and click 'Private Chat.' It works.)

Protecting Yourself:

(NOTE: This is just a guideline. It will help minimise the possibility of you doing something illegal, become sexually abused etc. This by no means will garuntee that you're safe.)

Quick Tips:
- Don't go on cam if you're under 18.
- Do not link to your facebook, myspace, bebo etc. accounts.
- Have a separate account to chat to people on MSN, Yahoo, AIM etc.
- Don't go further than telling people your state, unless you're planning to meet up.
- Do not go into a D/s relationship until you understand what you're in for. Yes, it's a good idea to have a person 'break it in' for you, but please, do some research. If you don't like BDSM the first time you try it, most likely you will NEVER GROW TO 'LIKE' IT. Stop the situation as soon as possible.
- Use common sense when approaching dares. If you are unsure if something is safe, then a little bit of googling might help.
- Do not believe everything you see. A 16 year old might indeed be a 50 year old pervert.

HAVE A FRIEND:
If you are planning to meet up with someone, I would suggest that you tell a real life friend, and the first time you meet, to make sure its a PUBLIC place. Tell the 'friend' the time you are leaving, time you'll get home, and the places you are going along with a rough timeline. If you do not want the other person to know, then you could arrange for your friend to call you at say... hourly intervals, and have SEVERAL cue lines ready. Another method, is to have a certain greeting, such as 'Hello?' for 'I am okay.' and 'Sup?' for 'Get me out of here!'. The last thing you say should also determine the location, if you are in trouble, such as 'So I guess I'll see you at 3 on Monday'. '3' being location number three on the 'rough timeline', and 'Monday' meaning 'this is very urgent'. (Sunday being, 'I feel a little uncomfortable.')

(Of course, do not use the exact wording as above, for if you're meeting up with a gD member, they would know.)

New to BDSM:
There are many many MANY misconceptions about BDSM and D/s (Domination and Submission). Read http://www.getdare.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=19036. Please, if you ever have problems, or you're having trouble understanding this lifestyle, ask in the Slave/ Master Lounge. Nicely. A lot of the members will be glad to help.(HINT: never be one sided when asking questions. )
