Maybe so, but I'm not actually that bothered about seeing the person on cam myself, my idea was that they are verified by a member of the Staff, so that if the person says they are female then there's a 99% chance they are.

I don't have a problem trusting people generally, but when you keep finding guys who claim to be girls it does leave you doubting everybody.
