the point is, i'm 20 and when your 20 chances are you will be closer to agreeing. I'll just say this as a last note, i liked green day for about a year max, roughly from when i was 16 to 17, now i listen to other music that has lasted a lot longer, green day is a fad band in my eyes and bille joe doesn't even play guitar live, so i don't have any respect for them. I will probably like most of the same bands in 6 years, oasis, the who, rolling stones, maybe kings of leon getting into them a bit, also getting it lily alan, i'm very open about my music, listening from stuff in the forties to current stuff. So yeah your just a kid and even though you think you know it all, inevitably you don't and neither do i, but i know what i like and green day isn't part of that anymore

Eric Clapton is great, I actually got tickets to see him this spring. But as far songwriting, I think there are better, but as a musician, the best rock guitar player of all time.

Okay, I just wanted a educated answer. It's a totally opinionated answer. I understand that, but someone who is not a songwriter, such as anyone who puts random words together that rhyme, and calls it a song is simply not a songwriter. If there is a techno song that is completely instrumental, (typically digital) It does not even apply to the thread - "Best Songwriter of all time", considering there is not words. And I asked for someone who writes lyrics to songs, (a work of poetry, that is understandable and of poetic value) meaning you can listen to it, and understand the deep and well written message of the song. And to say I am hating on a type of music is bull shit. In order to be a great songwriter, it typically requires hit albums and long term popularity. Now I'm not saying always, but most great songwriters have been around for quite a while, and often still preforming. It makes me sick how ignorant people are.
